Lead Data Engineer (Hadoop, Linux, Python, SQL) required by amazing government/public sector client in London to join their brand new DaaS (Data as a Service) team.

As the Lead Data Engineer, you’ll take both a strategic and operational lead at a time when significant infrastructure testing has been completed and my client’s now ready to move to the next phase to start using Hadoop-based cloud platform to deliver the benefits of advanced data insights to support consumers with their needs.

You’ll need the commitment and energy to help shape the team and drive it forward. You must have a genuine commitment to collaborate, share ideas and be open to new thinking. * Lead the construction of data pipeline projects for the business, facilitating end-to-end data handling.
* Collaborate to develop the right technical solutions to meet the client’s business requirements and deliver value to the consumers.
* Ensure effective governance and security protocols underpin all the client’s data solutions. Develop and drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the data engineering community and to its data platform, create opportunities for others to gain professional development.
* Develop and deliver an enterprise data architecture that coordinates the client’s portfolio of data assets, enabling dataset integration, flexibility in-design, and trusted single sources of truth for data-users to work with


* Able to develop credible relationships with stakeholders, including communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues
* A proponent of supporting colleagues training and personal development
* A thorough understanding and practical experience of software design principles, incorporating data development process; data integration design; programming and build; and technical understanding
* Expert knowledge of Python and SQL, Hadoop systems and Linux
* A broad understanding of cloud infrastructure and networks
* The ability to collaborate successfully in an agile working environment
