Senior Data QA Engineers

Data is increasingly vital in how we support consumers as we facilitate an effective marketplace. Our new Data as a Service (DaaS) Unit is an essential capability to us as we enable the marketplace to deliver consumers’ needs. Joining DaaS means joining an exciting new type of function within our client; you’ll need the commitment and energy to help shape the team and drive it forward. You must have a genuine commitment to collaborate, share ideas and be open to new thinking.

With us, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, encouraging open, inclusive discussions and adopting the team’s agile approach to delivery. We are an integrated team of business product leads, software engineers, user researchers, QA testers, business and data analysts working together collating and enriching data to generate new insight about the energy market for our client and the marketplace participants. The DaaS Unit is transforming our client’s approach to working with and creating value from information. We support a wide range of internal and external service users. We design and construct automated and trusted pipelines of leading-edge regulatory data products and facilitate better information exchanges out in the marketplace itself.

About the role:

* Responsible for testing and validating software data pipelines.
* Deliver continuous improvements and automation to our cloud-based data testing environments.
* Act as an authority and advisor on data quality issues for colleagues.
* Write high-quality test data sets and test methods, enabling automated testing wherever possible.
* Generate golden datasets to efficiently stress-test software and assure version control.
* Ensure principles of privacy and security are built into your data validation solutions.
* Maximise knowledge retention and transfer through concise documentation and collaboration.
* Continually seek to innovate, applying best practice and deliver new functionality to the Data Service platform

About you:

* The professional credibility and confidence to constructively challenge colleagues, in pursuit of the highest standards.
* Understanding of QA best practice within the data context, including experience of using TB / PB sized data.
* Significant knowledge of the software development process, likely to include at least 3 years in either JS/Java/C#.
* Experience in Linux and Microsift Azure cloud environment (or similar).
* Able to take a flexible, collaborative approach to your work.
